A Rainy Day in NYC (9/30/16)

I met my son in NYC to work on an assignment for his digital photo class. These are some of the ones I took. Unfortunately the rain was pouring down so we had to abandon our plans to shoot Times Square and Central Park and instead stayed close to the train station and inside the NY Public Library.
The lighting was poor so I converted most of the pictures to B&W

Those are terrific. Black and white or natural monochrome are meant for rainy conditions. Red umbrella definitely makes a statement.

I love black and white. I was into photography for 10 years before I shot my first roll of color print film when I went on my honeymoon. Now with digital every photo can be either, or, or both and I cant say I miss the stinking fumes of darkroom chemicals

Same here. My first rolls were ASA 400 black and white. Never did darkroom because of fumes and a lack of space/time. Some days I go out with the intention of changing every photo into black and white. Street shots, particularly at night, have more impact in black and white. Excellent work on yours.

A really nice series! The rain sure adds an interesting element missing in most "street" photography.

Outstanding street scenes on a rainy dismal day in NYC. I find that photos 3 and especially 5 really appeal to me.

These series of photos show that photo opportunities come in all seasons and weather conditions. In your case you took advantage of the rain to explore black and white and they series are stunning photos. This was a great use of your time.
