Welcome to Day 160 :) Today we are going to take a look at Night-time Illumination. The best time to capture these (if you want to do handheld) is right at dusk.. from sunset up to half an hour later.. after that it is imperative that you use a tripod. The darker it gets out the longer your shutter speed needs to be. The longer your shutter speed is the more camera shake you will have. So it's pretty much a trade-off .. either take the tripod or get there early enough to enjoy the half hour of light without sun.
I don't have very good examples today .. since I didn't follow my own advice and took too long to shoot .. and chose not to use the tripod LOL. Here is what I did manage to salvage (such as they are) .. I hope you have better luck than I did ... Night photography is truly my nemesis.

One camera, two tripods? I'll have to try that. I'll set them up and have my wife stand away and take photos of onlookers faces. PG ,you could make a theme called''Head Scratching''.

Have a good day y'all...my brother arrives in town aboard the Maasdam and we'll spend the day together, but I'll have my camera!

Well done Jim .. have a wonderful visit with your brother :) .. pg 1

Here in Québec City there is a tourist area but we locals hang out there too, it makes a good mix.

Today I had a bright idea and took my brother to the Château Frontenac and with camera in hand and looking for all the world like a tourist, I strutted into the place like I owned it and went to the elevator and went up to the 10th floor and we wandered around the corridors and at the windows I took photos.

The ship left here at 5:00 and wil go up to Montréal and be back here on Sunday. This weekend is Navy Weekend and ships from a few countries are moored here and the public can board them. Sadly, no tin cans, the heart of the Navy. I warned a few guys about the women around here because this is where I met my future wife in 1959.
