We just got to the Rio Grande Valley in very southern Texas near Mission, TX. Really good place for birds and butterflies. We are here for 3 months at the Bentsen Palms Village RV Resort right next to Bentsen Palms Birding State Park on the Rio Grande River. These are some of the first shots I have managed in the area. The Brahma along with her herd are our neighbors across the fence. I named her Joan Rivers for reasons at least obvious to me! The funny looking birds are Plain Chachalacas. Curious little creatures you will only see down here and in Mexico where they are hunted. We enjoy just watching them. The bird on my RV mirror is a Curve-billed Thrasher. Loved watching him also. His lower foot kept slipping down the chrome and he would have to haul it back up again. Thrashers have beautiful songs they sing. Any ideas why the Chachalaca photos came out so blue looking? 5DMII with Tamron 28-300 all Auto (P) with single center focus. Light was not very good. All other photos taken the same and all are handheld.
Try adjusting white balance.
#1 is charming and delightful! I also love the thrasher on its slippery perch.
Fine job on a very nice assortment!
For not having much light, your photos all turned out beautiful. Such clarity and great composition.
Nice photos; the first one is my favorite.
Nice set ya got there, fellow full-timer. 😊 I like the first shot the best. Good job!
Bud (near Carlsbad for now)
