I've got a lot to do today, so I will get these posted, and get out the door. I've enjoyed everything posted so far today, and will try to catch up when I get home. As usual Photogrl has given me great examples to follow.
A welcoming entrance.
I love carnivals, hope to get more this fall.
I did this by zooming out while doing a long time exposure.
The view from my apartment building, Unfortunately not from my apartment.
Dusk at Temple Square.
Socker game I took my Grandson and Daughter to, unfortunately we lost.
Dusk again, so used flash to highlight the tulips, and siloutte the statue.

Welcome to Day 160 :) Today we are going to take a look at Night-time Illumination. The best time to capture these (if you want to do handheld) is right at dusk.. from sunset up to half an hour later.. after that it is imperative that you use a tripod. The darker it gets out the longer your shutter speed needs to be. The longer your shutter speed is the more camera shake you will have. So it's pretty much a trade-off .. either take the tripod or get there early enough to enjoy the half hour of light without sun.
I don't have very good examples today .. since I didn't follow my own advice and took too long to shoot .. and chose not to use the tripod LOL. Here is what I did manage to salvage (such as they are) .. I hope you have better luck than I did ... Night photography is truly my nemesis.

LOVE what you did with the street lamp one!! AWESOME!!!
LATE evening, all hand-held with my SX40hs. I am still amazed at the pics I am getting, now if I can just get out and use it more!!
A few days ago I put up an avatar of a friend of mine playing the guitar. Several people ask if that was me, it was not. But it got me to thinking, are some people wondering I look like. If so here is a picture taken a couple of years ago of myself and my wife. I have few pictures of me, I'm usually behind the camera. We were at a Jamacian streel drum concert
Thanks! I like the angle also.
thanks. they were christmas lights on street lamps in Paris. I think at the place vendome.

All of these are very nice. The third one is really awesome!
Hubby has two of his toys out and drug me out to take pictures, don't know why he wanted pictures of the tail lights but it works for the challenge I suppose.
In the last picture there is someone watching you watch the pretty girls. Good night shots.

Twas dark but the sun caught a hole in the clouds just before kissing me goodnight.
One camera, two tripods? I'll have to try that. I'll set them up and have my wife stand away and take photos of onlookers faces. PG ,you could make a theme called''Head Scratching''.
Have a good day y'all...my brother arrives in town aboard the Maasdam and we'll spend the day together, but I'll have my camera!
Like the building but the street walker is a little iffy. lol

You talk about steeling locations. You and Peanut stole my idea for a shot and never let me get what I had planned. I hope everyone sees what I had to put up with. Hey! I got offered a hundred just standing there I heard one gal offer you fifty cents while you were on the other corner and the second gal offered you twenty to get off the street.
