I look forward to a solution. Does the box indicate that it's for the correct camera?

when I ordered from B&H they knew which camera as I had just ordered the M10 mark 11 from them and told him that was the camera I wanted it for so will go to camera store here see if they can tell me what is wrong

yes took it to the camera shop and he was able to attach it to the camera, he said because it was not plastic needed to put a bit more pressure to turn it now it works just fine

Having a new piece of gear that doesn't work properly is frustrating and disappointing.
The 25mm should click in place just like your other lenses do, so there is something wrong with the lens.
If you look at the back of the lens that attaches to the camera there are 4 screws. If you hold the lens so the red dot that you align with the red dot on the camera is up, you should see a small indentation below the screw on the left. This is where the spring loaded button on the camera snaps in to to hold the lens in place and is what gives the clicking noise. If that indentation is not there, or damaged or filled with debris, that is what is keeping the lens from locking in place.
Also, there are 11 copper contacts. Make sure there is nothing overlaying those contacts. If there is, that could be the reason the view finder is dark and could be keeping the lens from seating properly.
I hope this helps.

Hi Mac, took the lens and camera to B and C camera store and he tried it said it was a bit stiff so tried one of theirs and it was the same, said the ones I have are plastic mounts so easier to attach because this one is metal it makes it a bit tighter to attach which is a good thing better seal, so he put it on and also gave me some hints on how to use some of the settings so I don't have to hunt and peck so much

25mm is a very good range for shooting landscape. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I know it's a sign of the economic times . . .

but how do we expect brick and mortar camera stores to stay open, when we order from B&H and then run to our local stores for their help when something goes wrong?
