By appearance only, this eagle is ragged looking. Diving in ice-cold lake water for a fish in 14 degree temperature is not easy.
The weather was cloudy, snowy and windy, but the eagles don't seem to mind.

I used 800mm focal length. Hand held. Eagle was about 125-150 feet in distance.

Canon 5Dsr - Canon 400 II prime lens - Canon 2.0x III - 1/320 - f/8 - ISO @ 800.

Looks like you carry a heavy rig in the field.

The Canon 400 II f4 prime lens weighs 4.6 lbs not counting the 2.0x convertor compared to the
Canon 100-400 II at 3.5 lbs and the Tamron 150-600 at 4.3 lbs. plus the Sigma 150-600 Sport at 6.3 lbs.
But the Canon 400 II f4 prime is short with good balance making it easily hand-hold able, Marionsho.
