My lovely wife agreed to be a guinea pig for me today to play around with different lighting configurations using my 2 600EX-RT Speedlites. In this one, I had a medium-sized soft box off to the left, placed pretty close, and a second Speedlite, shooting through the tree, to provide a bit of "rim light." I had one set as Group A and the other as group B, then I played around with power ratios.

Thanks! I was pretty happy with it, but I wish the end of the TV/Stereo stand wasn't in the picture on the right though.

You did a lot better than I ever could with my wife. However, if I ever need to measure a time of 5 milliseconds, I will put her in front of the camera because that is all the time she will sit for me.

It seems like you have 2 color temperatures going on at the same time. I wonder if a filter over your flash units would help with that? This is a nice picture.

The lighting was mixed. Overheads were incandescent. Flashes were without any filters. I used AWB for white balance. As shot Temp was at 4800K. Here is a version where I warmed it up to 5834K (and cropped out the TV stand on right)
