For all you Canon Shooters I have a question for you: Not counting telephoto lenses, what is your very favorite lens and why?

Canon EF-S 10-18 mm (approx equiv. to full frame is 16 - 25). My first silent focusing lens, featherweight light, and oh-so-much-fun to use! I love the distortion of perspective at the widest angle.

It would have to be the 24-70 2.8 II. Everything from landscape to portraiture & events on a FF.

28 x 135 is my favorite walk about lens. Covers generally 70% of photos I want to take with my 3Ti.

For my 60D it is the Tamron 18-270. I know this is a telephoto, but it is my walk around lens for this camera. For my 6D it is the Canon 24-105. While I have the Canon macro 100 mm f/2.8 L lens, the Canon 17-40 mm f/4 L lens, the Tamron 70-300 and the Tamron 15-600, the two lenses that I mentioned at the beginning are my every day lens for each of the cameras.

Right now, my Tamron 90mm Macro. I have been fooling around with close ups lately. It is also good for portraiture and general walk around.

180 macro with and without 1.4X, I can get in real close or use it as a modest telephoto
24-105L for when all I know is I am not likely to need a lot of reach.
50 f/1.8 for very low light
14 mm f/2.8 for close quarters

I have several favorites, but for my 7d Mark II my favorite is the Canon EFS 17-55mm. This lens is by far the best non L lens out there.
For my 5 D Mark IV I like the 24-70mm 1:4 L IS USM. This lens is also a micro and is as sweet as they come. If I had the funds I would have gotten the EF 24-70 f/2.8 L II, but I am not complaining.
My next favorite is the Canon EF 70-200 f/4L IS USM is also a great lens, but I would rather have the 2.8L IS II. Mine is great for portrait, wildlife, and some closeup shots when needed.
I recently bought a Sigma 20mm art which is great for landscape and asrtophotography. I am just getting used to this lens and like it a lot.

24-105 f4L IS as a general "walk around", 70-200 f2.8L IS for indoor sports and weddings/events. Recently, I've been using the 85 f1.8 a lot for indoor low light

If I am by the river shooting the shipping or birds I prefer my 100-400 L II on either my 5DIV or 7DII, with or without my 1.4xIII extender. If I'm just out and about I usually take the 5DIV and my 24-105L. My favorite lens at any given time is the one that is best for the conditions. Often, it's the one I didn't bring with me!

Brent - for the photography I do, which is primarily birds and BIFs, the lens I have on my 5D Mk IV is the EF 100-400 L Mk II. It is my walk around lens and it virtually never leaves my IV. The 100-400 gives me very sharp photos even wide open. And with the Mk IV I can get away with high ISOs - even as high as 12,800 - of course with some intense post involved.

The Masochist said 'Beat me!' and the Sadist said 'No!'Honestly I can't pick one. What do you call a telephoto? If I had a bigger budget I would have more choices, and I would also choose more diverse subjects.
I use a lowly Canon Rebel T3i. The two most frequently lenses used are my EF-S 18-135 mm STM and EF-S 10 - 22mm USM. The EF 70 - 300 IS comes next following closely. After that, maybe my (adapted) FL 55mm f/1.2, (adapted) FDn 135mm f/2.0 and Samyang 8mm fisheye, not in any particular order. The (adapted) FDn 500mm f/8 reflex gets some use. The EF-S 60mm macro for some subjects, even the 50mm f/1.8 at times. Also Canon close up lenses (250D / 500D) on occasion. Even extension tubes.
Why? Different subjects and situations require different tools.
I try to carry more tools in my bag than hammers of various weights and styles. Every now and again a certain job requires a specialized tool. I've just bought one. If it works out I'll let you know! That'll be my next lens in the ship of fools....
