Scene Leaving the Car Boot ....
....the things people buy! Taken whilst having a cup of tea. One or two sussed me out, but not many.
As you don't call it the boot, what do you call the sale over there?
If you are refering to a sale that is spread out I would be inclined to call it a 'flea sale.' I always thought you folks called a car trunk the boot. Wrong?
I have heard it called a Flea Market, where it is spread out with various sellers offering goods, vs a yard sale which would be smaller and generally limited to ones yard.
What a fun idea for a photo montage, Dave! I really enjoyed seeing what treasures people find of other people's junk
Flea Market is usually with tables from many sellers - and in a parking lot (e.g. church fund raiser) or field (those often have artist vendors, antiques); yard sale (or garage sale) is at one's home, often when people are moving and wanting to downsize. Farmers' markets are mostly homegrown veggies and fruit, cheese, nuts, meat - but can include artist vendors also (sewing, photography, carving, painting).
I have never been to a group event like this using automobiles, but sure is a great idea.

That's right John, but I gather you don't have car trunk sales? Our car boot sales are supposedly people selling from the back of their car, but in reality they usually erect a table behind the car. At a good sized one there will be row after row of them in a field, car park, school ground or similar.

Hi JD, we too have flea markets but they tend to be held in towns, sometimes indoors sometimes out, or a combination of both.

Glad you like it Linda.
Here's your chance to make a buck - invent car trunk sales! They are hugely popular here. We do have the other types of sale you mention, plus antique fairs, but the car boot is the most popular as they interest all types of punter.

They do 'garage sales' a lot more than we do.
