AA batteries are 1.5 volts, I've never seen any that were 3.7 volts.

They work with ordinary AA batteries.

For those of you who have this flashlight, how do I set it to strobe? They didn't come with any directions.

Keep pushing the button, after its turned on keep touching it softly, it will strobe.

Right. I'm surprised that they are the same size with a different voltage.

I had a similar issue with Amazon. I have a Streamlight that uses the expensive CR123 3 v batteries, and I saw on Amazon that they offered rechargeable lithium batteries in this size, so I bought them(came with a charger). When I put them in the flashlight the bulb came on and one sec later blew out! Upon closer examination I noticed that the stated voltage on the battery was 3.7. Since the light takes two batteries that created 1.4 v too much, and a new bulb cost $8. Amazon gave me a credit and didn't want the batteries back, but they are of no use to me.

I wouldn't think a bulb would be that voltage sensitive, but the manufacturer says it is. Most people don't realize how useful a small bright easily carried flashlight can be.

Thanks. That's a very sensitive button. Pushing it lightly reduces the brightness. Pushing it lightly again starts the strobe. Unlike other lights I have, this requires a very slight push. I like the sliding collar for spot and flood. I question their use of the term "luxury gift box." Not many people think of cardboard as being a luxury.

If you have a Batteries Plus close by, checkout LITHLS14500BA ($11.99ea)or LITHXL-060F ($7.99ea).
I just checked our website. There are 3 stores in the Tampa area; 138 South Dale Mabry, 1703 W. Fletcher, & 5537 Sheldon Road plus several stores close by.

I got a set of these small flashlights for $24 a few days ago, but the price is creeping up. It's designed to operate on 3.7v AA batteries, but while I wait for those batteries to arrive, I inserted a 1.2v Eneloop. These things are bright! Pulling on the end shade changes it from a flood to a spot, and it can also act as a strobe. I have several little $2.00 plastic and aluminum lights, but these are in a class by themselves.

Jerry, if you think these are bright, you should try the big brother. Takes an 18650 battery. Amazon or Ebay. I've probably got 15-20 of those and about 5 of the ones of which you speak.

I just checked your link, Jerry. Amazon says they're out of stock with no expected due in date.

I saw that too, but it appears that there are plenty of others available that are the same thing.

After pushing the button to turn it on, just press PARTWAY down repeatedly to step thru the functions (strobe, s-o-s)

Cool. Added to my Wish List. I'm a sucker for these kinds of lights, I have them everywhere, every room, every jacket, every toolbox, every car.

There are other ones, some even brighter. Some you can get singly, like: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01HUJFOEU?psc=1

I wonder if the strobe mode could be used to help freeze motion for photography?
