These are very early Studebakers from their museum in South Bend, Indiana. I didn't realize their history went back this far.

First the write-up, then the picture.

Very nice presentation. I honestly answered no to all the 'did you know' questions.

These are excellent photos. As a car buff, I think Studebaker was a very interesting company and I was sorry to see it vanish.

Nice photos and information about Studebaker. I knew Studebaker started out making conestoga wagons back in the 1800s but didn't know about the other horse-drawn vehicles they produced like the hearse, dump wagon, etc.

I grew up in South Bend, Indiana and remember when they were still making cars and the size of their automotive plants. The museum was not as large as it is today but I do remember seeing the wagons and what Studebaker contributed to the war effort in WWII. The Tippecanoe Place which was the Studebaker home/mansion is quite impressive as well and if you get a chance you should try to see it.

Thanks for bringing back some great memories.

I recall seeing about half a dozen of these unique dump wagons sitting at an abandoned mine near the ghost town of Kendall, MT in about 1975. Sad to say, some "collector" had turned them over and stolen the wheels off of every one.

Wow! I had no idea they went back that far. I remember seeing a Studebaker Avante (wrong spelling?) 65 model and wanting one.
