I've used El-co Color Labs several times with great results and service. Very good to deal with.
They have a poster "specials":

I have been using http://perfectposters.com/ for many years. I've been very happy with their work. They will print any size, not just standard poster sizes. Also great selection of papers, finishes, etc.

I shot some sequences of my grandchildren playing baseball and football over Thanksgiving. I believe they would enjoy posters of themselves hitting a softball, kicking a football, etc. Any suggestions on good sites I can use to design my posters?

If you want photo quality paper, Adoramapix is a good choice. Their website will also tell you if your image will look good at different sizes. Anything over 11" x 14" is considered "poster size". And they have a good selection of paper sizes, so you can have your image printed on a size with a minimum of white along the edges. It really helps to know if the resolution of your image will look good when enlarged!

One point to consider - the poster sizes are printed all the way to the edge on the longest dimension. If you want white all around it, you have to add a white border in with Photoshop.

If you have Photoshop it is easy to design your own posters. Decide on the size you want (may be dictated by the size you can get printed) and make a blank "canvas" in Photoshop. Then select each picture you want included and copy it to the poster. The last one I made had different sized photos and text that I designed. I had it printed at Walmart and we framed it and hung it in the hallway at church.

Thank you. Most helpful. Purchased many 16x30 enlargements from Costco over the years and always used another epson icc profile for my epson stylus 1400 printer with much success. Will try this one next time. Thanks again.

Just an idea .... I made posters for my grandchildren - a collage of various shots from their sports. I used Photoshop Elements.

Just a thought: Epson has holiday pricing on its BIG printers... But it you get one, you have to print on it at least every other week, or you risk clogging. They have 24" and 44" models. The sale prices will be in affect for, as I recall, the entire month of December. Buying a big printer makes you into a digital lab.

Design vs print, there are many sources of templates that you may use to create a poster, if poster means a poster sized print that is easily accomplished by many printing sources, Miller's (MPix), Costco printing would be my second choice the do a superb job of copying a photo at a very reasonable price. You can check out your local Costco, many ceased to offer a in store printing option, otherwise you have the option of using Costco on line services.
If you wish a collage sequence of your grand children's sports accomplishments, there are many sources of collage templates that can easily permit you to drop your shots or images to create a copy that you may have printed,
Another more involving method is the composite method. This method more complicated, and might required some skills above the beginner level to accomplish. Templates for composite area available from Ashe Design, yes Ashe has $5 Fridays, the templates they provide also are a good basis to start constructing a composite. Another composite templates is Easy Digitals, @ http://easydigitals.com/ if you sign up by subscribing and providing your email address Kim Kunkle the designer does provide free templates monthly. Photo Solutions provides a number of template solutions, some templates permit you to drop in an image to a template, others require more time and skills to accomplish the more advanced template composites https://photosolutionsmarket.com/catalog/category/view/s/entire-collection/id/146/
This should give you a number of options that you might use to show your grand children's sports accomplishments
