Where did all the gas taxes go in last 20 yrs in your state?
What ever happened to all the road and bridge repairs?

In most states, the gas taxes don't even cover what the states need to spend on adequate infrastructure. This is why thousands of bridges have fallen into disrepair across the country. The US collects some of the lowest gas taxes in the civilized world, and consequently, has among the least modern and efficient transportation infrastructures in the world.
Yes, I know, you will probably deny and deflect, given that you have never been one to allow facts to get in the way of your shrill anti-government rhetoric.
Our state gas taxes are among the highest. It's about well past time the fed tax went up. No balls....

You mean, CT's gas tax is among the highest of the 50 states. True, although it is still relatively low compared to the rest of the civilized world. But hey, I bet that your roads in CT are in much better shape than New Jersey - one of the lowest gas taxes anywhere - am I right?
I thought the OP was referring to the US and I missed any political implications...
Various sources report NJ roads as being among the poorer and worse than Ct, but they certainly are no where near being a low tax state at $.375/gallon.

It's is hard to tell if he was referring only to federal gas taxes, or both fed and state. Doesn't really matter. The federal gas taxes, which haven't been raised in like 12 years or so, are also too low to cover the current needs of our infrastructure.
The political implications have to do with the OP's false inference that the gas taxes were stolen and spent on other things besides roads. From my experience, he is what you would call a Tea Party person who uses "Tea Party logic" and "Tea Party facts". You know the type, right?
My remark about no balls was with regards to the Fed Govt having not raised the fed gas tax since 1993.

The State of Washington steals from itself all the time. They slush millions out of dedicated highway funds and into the general fund by paying themselves sales tax on highway projects. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with the Tea Party.
And we're #2 at 44.5 cents per gallon.

The Governor of Michigan (mr. Lead Drinking Water) fooled people into raising the gas tax, drivers license renewal fees, and automotive registration fees last year, claiming this would raise enough money to fix our roads. In the 2017 budget the state will spend less on roads than in 2016. I never vote for a tax increase in Michigan because every election they sell the voters another bullshit story and every two years the voters fall for it. How dumb can people be.
Governor Christie just raised the gasoline tax in NJ, 23 cents a gallon for the same reason.
Want to bet the roads don't get fixed?

The law made it mandatory that all of the gas tax revenue go to transportation. The gas tax was so low (hadn't been raised since 1988) that the New Jersey transportation trust fund completely ran out of money last summer, and all road projects had to be suspended. The way the law is written, it will be virtually impossible to divert any of the gas tax money.

Sure. It was against the law to tie up the traffic by the George Washington Bridge but Christie didn't hesitate to do that. My bet stands.
