Today while working at my regular job, I met another photographer, and we chat it up for quite a while. Well during our conversation, he mentioned Ugly Hedgehog, so here I am.
My name is Chad Julich. Im a 28 Year old photographer ( Enthusiastic Hobbyist ) hoping to make this my carreer someday. I have been shooting for 2 years, and my skills have grown exponentially since i started. No formal classes or training, just trial and error, and a good friend to guide the way.
I shoot landscapes, portraiture, lunar and solar eclipses, light painting, lightning, family, friends, and anything else that makes an interesting picture.
One thing i rarely get is support or feedback from very many people. Im always open to opinions, and constructive criticism is one of the best ways to learn.
Let me introduce myself with my latest creation. This is a series of 5 images, shot last night (June 5th 2012) during the transit of Venus. It wasnt much to look at or photograph alone, but then a boeing kc-135 stratotanker flew past the sun casting a beautiful silhouette and left contrails which distorted the light making for some interesting shots.
I already have 4 of these sold. :D
I hope you enjoy.

very interesting shot! the sales is just a bonus.
Welcome to UHH and good job!
This is a nice mage. As for the entrepreneurship: Sounds like you have things set up nicely to sell these so quickly. Any expertise on how to get something going for image sales you can share here?
I have been shooting for more than 40 years for my own enjoyment. Selling intrigues me. BTW: I'm new here as well.
As for selling images, I offer but i dont pitch it like a vacuum cleaner sales man. Most people know my images are for sale, (through FB , work ect ) and relatively cheap. I have put hours upon hours into shooting anything i can, and spent way more money than i could ever hope to recoup. I do it for the enjoyment, and when it turns a profit ( HA not likely the way i keep wanting new equipment ) thats always a bonus.
Nevertheless the images get printed, hand signed and mailed off. Family has been one of the biggest supporters though. Im working on a gallery walk in downtown Lincoln sometime this summer.
I think the best way to get your art out there, Word of mouth. Donate images to public places, and hope they put it up. When people get curious, and start asking who took the shot, thats like free advertisment. :D Im planning on a donation to the airbase where the plane in this series is stationed.
Sure it cost me $20 To have it printed large enough for them to enjoy, but maybe, just maybe it will come full circle with a nice profit in the end.
Ya never know.
I like your approach. Simple and enjoyable -- no pressure. Keep up the good work.

I fully agree that word of mouth is the best advertisement and the cheapest. I'm working on a project myself that will be on display to the public later this year. I also agree that a few donations here and there help. Keep up the nice work!
