Great video points! The majority of Americans are economically illiterate and believe falsely that minimum wage laws help unemployment when in fact they do the opposite. This stuff is so easy yet most people don't stop to think it through.

I've always been a big fan of Walter Williams.

Williams is one of the best! I have a signed proclamation written by him that absolves all living white people (including myself) from guilt over the horrors of slavery.

I got to sit in on one of his lectures when he was a guest speaker at a college near me. Guy is wicked funny and intelligent. He has such a unique way of breaking down very complex economic issues and illustrate them in everyday life. Very interesting life story as well, raised by mom in Philly projects, served in the army, dropped out of college first go around, was a black civil rights activist, and proceeded on to a very distinguished career as an educator and Economist.

I wonder why so many people do not understand that the higher minimum wage goes, that there will be fewer people a company can afford to employ? (And the higher the cost of whatever product is being produced or sold will go, to compensate for paying each employee more.)

It seems that most people only think one step ahead. Raise my wage and VOILA, nothing else is affected by it.

labor costs for fast food average about 25%... that means that $1.25 of your $5.00 burger goes... current average wages are $9/hr. Going to $11/hr would raise the burger price $0.27....

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine. REM

27 cents is too much for me! And I think REM should have gotten the Medal of Freedom. They are much better than Bruce Springshteen.
