Can anybody tell me if Abe's of Maine is a good place to buy lens

My favorite reputable dealers:

B&H
Adorama
Cameta Camera
KEH (for used gear)

Avoid Abe's and 42nd St.

Yes, very good. I bought a D750 from them, and a day or two later, Nikon dropped the price by $300. I called them, and they gave me the $300 credit.

Quoting myself--Perhaps I should have said that B&H and Adorama are good places, among many other. Those two seem to be the most often mentioned on the UHH. I didn't meant to suggest that those two are the only places to buy photography equipment. Sorry if that was confusing.

It is always good to deal with a local photography store, but there are often a lack of them in a lot of areas. So when dealing online, it is good to have the names of trusted vendors. I think the frequent mention of B&H and Adorama is not only because they have great service, products, and prices, but also because a lot of UHH members live within the east coast area. We can actually visit this online dealer in their physical store! For some it is a bit of a drive, but this proximity makes it possible to feel like these are "our" stores!!! Not to forget that going there is an experience of the senses not to be missed...

Sounds like Abe's of Maine is a good place -- to avoid at all costs. I've been happy with Adorama. Often have great deals.

Do you think the OP has got the picture or will this thread continue on for another 10 pages with redundant and irrelevant responses? Geesus.

I have noticed that as long as there is still someone out there who has not expressed an opinion, a thread can continue! It is indeed unfortunate that people don't read all previous answers as well as the initial question first. Many times I have looked at a thread and seen that I have nothing new to add, and close it. Other times I see that good answers have been given, but I can contribute something in terms of point of view, suggestions, etc. that may help, so I respond.

Oh, is there a limit to how many times someone can comment on a given topic? Or, after the first person to post “Adorama, B&H and Cameta” does so, then it should stop right there because nobody else is allowed to do the same? I don’t remember seeing that in the “rules”.

I can understand your frustration with such a comment. But the other person is also frustrated because some threads do seem to go on and on and on... There are many different personalities and points of view in a forum, and sometimes our toes can feel stepped on. But seldom is it on purpose or done with malice, so while it is good that you spoke up, it is also good to understand what others must be feeling. A forum is built on people wanting to contribute and discuss different topics, which means that you can comment as many times as you want!

I use Hunt's whenever I can because they are a real brick and mortar camera store and I want to see them stay in business. If I call them, they can usually get something in for me in a day or two.
