SD vs Compact flash cards.

Bent Pins
I prefer SD cards...as Goofy has mentioned they wash much better than CF cards.
At the university where I work, we have a stable of 12 cameras for students to check out.
With our CF using cameras, there was almost always one on the way, at or coming back from Canon for repair of bent pins.
Have not had ANY go to Canon with any issue among our SD using cameras....yet.
Now it's just flash foot repairs we deal with.
As far as performance goes- have not noticed and difference between SD or CF with the Nikons we use to shoot with.
We don't shoot sports so that's not an issue.
The thing we want speed for is the download from the card to the HD or server.
Satman, What brand is your CF to SD card adapter? I tried to find such a thing, and all those I found had poor customer reviews. I assume that yours is something that you trust and use. Thanks

I have heard, CF cards are going the way of the 8 track. IMHO

I was wondering if there was an advantage to the compact flash cards over SD cards. I see that the " Pro Cameras " 5D 1D ect have a slot for them and also SD slot. Just curious on if there was a reason.

Caters to old time professionals who have a bunch of them.
No advantage and the cost more.

I use one that takes two micro SD cards. Seems to work fine.

They are pretty ubiquitous, but one caution. If you plan on using an EyeFi SD card, use their adapter.

$12.50 had it for a few years, served me well.
Thank you Satman, I've tried to find these before, and any I did find had poor reviews, but this one seems to work fine if used in the suggested cameras, my 5d3 is in that group. It is now in my B&H cart.
