I learned here that the Nikon D500 has a higher capacity battery and about Nikon's updated battery exchange for D500 purchasers. Is there difference in the battery chargers? if so, are the version 2 batteries compatible with the older D7?000 chargers?

I have a D7200 and a D500. Both cameras came with a battery and charger. I also have a few aftermarket batteries that I use in both cameras, even though I've been told they won't work in the D500. Apparently no one told the batteries. Anyway, I use both chargers randomly for all the batteries and have no problems. The aftermarket batteries are a higher capacity than the Nikon batteries.

As suggested above, off market batteries in D500 is hit and miss. The charger is same, no concerns there. I use one of the older Nikon batteries, not into messing with the return for a free replacement to newer (this program is still in effect).

Sooner or later the aftermarket batteries will catch up on the code for the D500. Wasabi and Watson are probably working on it right now. I remember reading something, several months ago, on a particular Lexar memory card that was problematic with the D500. I'm sure that has been resolved.

I have a D500 and the Nikon En-15 works great as it does in all my Nikons. D810, D800, D750 and D7100.

Thanks everyone. Santa will be coming with a D500. I became concerned when I saw that the d500 charger is a "MH-25a". I figured that the "a' suffix meant something has changed. I want to make sure that I don't mess it up by swapping batteries and charger with my D7100.
