What's the cheapest SD card I can use in my A6300 for still photography and will it be fast enough if I need to use it for burst mode? Why would you want a cheap card? Are you OK with it failing when you most need it? The small difference between the cheapest and the most expensive fast card is usually about $5-$10. Splurge, you won't regret it.

If I have several clients would it be very difficult to keep track of each shoot thru separate folders on the sd card or should I be doing each one on separate cards so as not to mix them up?

When I shoot for myself I will put several photo outings on one card. When I shoot an event or for a client, I will start with a fresh card either a new one or one that I had cleared of older shots. When I download I make a new folder for the new work to into and I choose on the preference tab to download only new shots so I don't have a problem of mixing shots up. I like keeping shots I do for hire on a clean disk though because I use that disk as a backup to the computer copies. After so long though I will reuse the disks.

Don't go too cheap it's not worth it, SD cards aren't very expensive anyway. Always go for a good make such as Sandisc or Lexar, 16 gb should be ample but go for 32gb if you want. Whatever your choice is make sure it class 10 you can check this by looking for a small "c" with "10" in the centre..

You should be unloading each shoot to your computer and name the directory after the client. If you do two shoots before unloading just remember the start and finish number on the card. Don't try to use the SD card as a storage device. The fact that you are talking about clients suggests you should be buying a high quality card not cheap. If by chance you giving the physical photos to a client buy cheap Flash cards.

Something sounds strange in what you are doing or asking

MicroCenter has their own store brand and they don't come any cheaper than that. Have never had a problem with Microcenter SD cards. Use them in everything from tablets to cameras.

BJ's has Sandisk class 10 32 mb cards for $9.99. I got 2 yesterday. I have been using them in my A6000 and they handle burst mode fine. I would avoid the micro cards. I got one of those previously and it wouldn't work in any of my equipment. Must be a dud.

Don't worry about separate folders or cards. When you start with a new pet, put the client's name on a piece of paper and shoot that.

Better yet, have the owner hold up the piece of paper next to their pet at the start of each set.

How many pets are you taking photo's of. A 32 g card will give you thousands of exposures. You would give out before your card did. Cards are cheap compared to film. Get a san disk 32 GB for $14.99. With this card on jpeg, for pets that's all you will need cause you are not going to go above a 16X22 print anyway and you can get thousand + photo's on on disk. How many pets do you think you can shoot. Cards are CHEAP, get a good one and have some fun man.

Annie, by taking FREE photos of ANYTHING (pets) you're stealing a meal ticket from those that depend on their photography for a living wage. And you're hurting and demeaning the entire photography business.
If you're good enough, then CHARGE, if not....?

When I'm buying for car, camera, or computer, the word "cheapest" doesn't enter into the decision. I think what you mean is, what will work well without being overkill. First, check your manual and see what cards you can use. Then go to a store or a site that sells them and check prices for name brands. Burst mode is going to require a lot from your camera and your card. If your camera's buffer isn't as good as the card you're using, you won't get full benefit from the card. Will you be shooting in small JPEG or raw? Big difference in file size. How many shots will you be taking in a burst? That also makes a big difference.

Why not buy a pair of two terabyte Western Digital (WD) portable hard drives? Not very expensive these days online or at Staples. Download each file into a uniquely named folder (easy to search tor) (topic/date) on EACH hard drive and you have a ton of external, portable storage space that you can travel with but is FULLY BACKED UP at a very reasonable cost. Then buy a smaller number of really fast, reasonably high quality cards. I use this approach when I travel and shoot -- downloading every night to both drives. Travelling around the US or toTanzania, Galapagos, wherever one drive goes in my carry-on and one into my wife's. Much safer than trying to keep track of a bunch of cards floating around and easy to find what you are looking for on the drives! Good luck!
