Last weekend we went to what we thought was a art show in Burbank. Hmmmm, no show, but the Burbank Historical Museum was open. WOW. So many artifacts from the late 1800's to present time, including one of three original tract houses ever built in Burbank. Here are just a few of the pictures I took, some of which will no doubt bring back memories to some of you.

I bought skates like those with key to tighten on shoes at a yard sale, so I could skate with my kids, only on our sidewalk. Good memories. Thank you.

Thanks for posting, it does bring back memories. I'll have to drop by and check it out in person. Here's another interesting local museum in Sylmar, CA.

I had a pair of roller skates and ice skates like that. They just clamped onto your shoes.
My grandmother had a stove like that same color and everything. When we would visit her in the winter (North Dakota) we would sleep on the third floor with no heat. The water in the wash basins would freeze. My brother and I would grab our clothes, run down stairs and get dressed behind the stove. One time I lost my balance and my rear went against it, damn it was hot.
Great memories Thanks
Excellent and interesting Set Rich. Those oid roller skates really take me back.
Very interesting set and I do remember those roller skates.... where's the skate key??!!
Thanks for sharing!!
As a child I had a pair of the roller skates... I also remember the song that had the words "I have a brand new pair of roller skates you have a brand new key"
The stove is almost exactly like the one my grandmother had which later ended up in the basement as a second place to cook... She was a fantastic cook...
Thanks for the memories...

Hi angler, thanks for looking. Yes those Union Hardware skated do elicit memories...We used to take them apart and nail the parts to a 2x4 with an orange crate on top with handles, and make scooters out of them.

I almost forgot what it looked like!!
The skate images bring back memories. We all used to love making the tight turn at the corner on the end of our block so that we left scratches of our wheels in the cement surfaces. They were superficial and washed away after a couple of rains (It rained in CA back in the day!). I remember taking the skates apart and nailing the wheeled part on the bottom of a short 2 by 4 and adding a vertical handle to make a little scooter. Without the handle it would have the a prototype skateboard but no-one in my =neighborhood had the imagination to try that concept. This was in the latter half of the 1940's.
