I've never been a big believer in ghosts and always looked to other explanations until I had my own 'unexplained encounter about 12 years ago. Not somethjing caught out of the corner of my eye, but rather a 2-minute conversation from about 10 feet away.
I wrote a short story about it several years ago in my blog. You can find it here, you'll need to scroll down the page a bit until you get to 'The Beaverdale Ghost"

That was quite an interesting story, Bill...but, you didn't have to make a "believer" out of me...I know you actually saw this figure....in our old "farmhouse" in WV, where I grew up, my mother had frequent encounters with apparitions appearing in her bedroom at night.....she has told us quite a few stories of this happening through the years......her last were of my deceased father and sister.....said my sister appeared and stood at the foot of the bed on several different nights and was fully visible to her....also, said she had felt my dad in bed with her and of the mattress depressing where he lay.....hope you're not anxious when you go to bed now.....

No, but funny you should mention that. My mother always told me about when her brother (a fighter pilot in WWII) was shot down behind enemy lines and that he was presumed dead but after many months she had an apparition appear 'at the foot of her bed'. Days later she the got word from the War Dept that he had managed to escape and was now safely in England. The night he escaped was the night she saw the apparition.
There was a History Channel movie about my uncle's escape.

Ghost hunt of West Virginia State Penitentiary September 3/4 2011 in Moundsville West Virginia. Part of the bus tour with Haunted Hamilton, a full night's investigation of the prison.
Some of the better evps I caught are at: 5:38 thru 7:43, 8:51, 10:22, 11:22, 15:58, 17:10, and 18:14, if you'd like to bypass all the 'odd anomalies' and get straight to the good stuff.
It was an impressive sight to see this huge dark and foreboding prison from the bus late at night, seemingly jumping out of the darkness amongst houses around it. The many hallowed halls held some of the worst offenders and bore witness to some gruesome acts of violence. But for me at least, the air seemed to turn light much too soon, and I found myself wandering the corridors of a large dark building, than the scary prison I psyched myself up for the whole week. I don't think there was any ghost show about WVSP that I didn't watch. So, it was a pleasant surprise at some of the evps that was captured from nearly 4 hours of video and audio. But, regardless of what I didn't experience first hand, it was a great time to be wandering into the many cells, rooms and basements at 3 in the morning. I can also re-watch a lot of the same shows and see myself in the same rooms now. I tried to learn from Tala and docked my camcorder on a tripod to leave it stationary and have a steady shot instead of a bouncy mess of pixels. Seems like I missed some of the text flying by a bit too fast, I apologize in advance for that. First minute of the video is our whole group (52) and some highlights from the quick tour before the investigation began.
