Can someone help me out with the time for the super moon to rise in the east (VA)?
Thanks
Pappy
Below is the site I use. Please note that your time might vary if there's a hill (or structure) close to you and in the way
http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneDay.phpI have learned that moon
set in the morning in Yakima is actually 20 minutes earlier than this site indicates - I assume because of the Cascade Mountain foothills, though you'd think that would be accounted for.

May I also suggest an app called "The Photographer's Ephemeris", an invaluable tool for answering this question any time of year in any location.

Too late for this super moon, but this will come in handy in the future, and there's also a link for sunset and sunrise times.

According to the Accuweather weather site the moon rises at 4:52 over Portland Maine tonight. I was out last night in Minneapolis for the moonrise at 4:40 here. There were a number of us at the ready standing on a bridge over one of our downtown lakes. Actually we waited about another 10 minutes for it to clear the landscape and peak through the trees on the other side of the lake. We shot magnificent views for the next 30 minutes at least.
Check the Accuweather site for your area and tap on today's forecast for more info below. You will see the sunrise/set and Moonrise/set times. Last night it rose directly in the east for us. Tripod, separate trigger, and lens of 400mm are recommended. Good shooting. Looks like the weather will cooperate in Maine!

Oops. Thinking about my timeline. They said clouds would be moving in tonight, so I figured overnight last night was the time to grab it.
