This C-47 was build in Oklahoma City in late 1944. It was flown to Canada where it was transferred to Great Britain under the Lend Lease program. The aircraft served with the RAF. It was then reassigned to a Canadian transport squadron. After decades of service it entered civilian service in 1974 until 1995. It was donated to the CAF in 2002. The Bluebonnet Belle underwent a two year restoration project. She has two Pratt & Whitney radial engines that develop 1,200 HP each. It's cruising speed is 175 MPH.

Please download & enjoy.

Thanks Jay. This was taken at the New Orleans Air Expo. Fun day, spent about 6 1/2 hours there. More shots to follow.

Great shots of a beautiful aircraft. As a Navy pilot, the C-47; (some were called an R4D) was the first tail dragger I flew. At Quonset Point, RI in '70. It was attached to the Naval Air Base. All it had were "steam gauges". You really had to fly this one. I really felt I was flying history...and I was!

You have first hand flying knowledge Greg. It was a very nice aircraft. Will be posting several more that I photographed at the Air Expo. Some will be the P-40, B-17, PT-13 Cornell and others. It was a great show.
Thanks for viewing and comments.
