How do I reduce a photo to managable size n PS CS6? (Page 2): Save it as a jpeg, email it at 5x7 300 dpi and it can be printed with no problem.

I am so confused by your posts.
Are you saving the file in jpeg, do not think you ever answered that question.
Also a 5x 7 at 300 dpi is less than a half a meg emailed, and your customer can open it and print it. Enlighten me, this post has been so confusing.
The attached is a 5x7, think 5.7 megs opened for print, emailed it is about a half a meg.

Sorry about the confusion lbrandt79, but I really did not know the specifics as to what I wanted to ask....
Plus, I did not upload to the category that it would up in, and this frustrated me as well as I could not get the forum to upload my original photo either!!

However, to answer you concers. Yes, My goal was to save it as a .JPG and to have it sized (pixels) to a manageable emailing size.
As I said, it was over 17.MG to begin with. Then I was told how to resize in the dimentions I wanted, 5"x7" and 300 DPI, I did this and the photo them was less than a MG in size. By lowering the DPI, it lessened the photo size (in pixels).

The Ctrl+Alt+I was the answer that I needed to make the final size desired in a 5"x&' and DPI.

Hope this celared up my error and confusion too.

It is only 17 megs when you open it, then you save it and then it becomes smaller as a jpeg. That is what jpeg is. It then becomes manageable to email and the recipient then can open it and print it. When you email it, it is NOT that large.

Opened in CS6 as a NEF, worked on it somewhat, saved it as a JPG-6016x4000 px = 10.2 MG
Sized in CS6 as 5x7" - 5600x4000 px = 17.2 MG
Sized in IrafnView as 5x7" - 2100x1500 = 1.1 MG
Sized original in CS6 using Ctrl+Alt=I at 150 DPI = 903KB

Obviously I am not the sharpest nail in the pouch and am learning slowly about PS.
This is why I asked the question in UHH.
