Hello, On My Computer I have AVG 2012, it says it will expire in another week or so, I always thought this was a Free Program, but I guess not, are there any other Free Programs to help maintain our computers from virus or malware, or spyware, that can be installed for Free, need some advice, Thanks, George Im on Firefox, and have Spybot.
Computer security professionals have consistently rated Microsoft Security Essentials in the top ten for effectiveness and ease of use. It is free and works very well. Using two or more anti-virus programs at the same time would seem a good way to go but in fact, just slows down your surfing and opening files on your machine. Some posters mention Malwarebytes and Avast. Both are excellent programs and have free versions, however you have to purchase them to get their full value. The free vesions are bare bones and not as good as Microsofts freebie.
Making your machine bug free simply requires three basic steps: a good anti-virus, keep everything updated to the most recent version, and no porn. (I have a seperate machine encased in rubber for that!)
