Cool shots , I'd guess juvenile Redtailed Hawk too. Did you get to see the underside of the tail?

Thank you lamiaceae. I did not see under the underside of the tail. When if flew of it landed on the ground.

Wonderful. But was he really in your car?

Thank you for the comment and for pointing that I did actually say it was in the car. Too bad it is too late to edit that sentance.

As someone who practiced falconry for over eighteen years, yes, this is a RTH. Nice shooting, sir. :)

I was able to get close to what I think is a juvenile redtailed hawk in my car. It was hunting in an alfalfa field along a busy highway. It sat on an irrigation wheel until it got tired of me being too close.

Real nice!! What did you shoot these with and what settings. Thanks

Tom

Fantastic shots. Great feeling to be able to get one to stay still for more than a nanosecond. Not that I would know, since I can't get within 300' of one.

Tom, the shot was taken with a Tamron 70-300mm lens on a D7100. The setting were manual with f5.6, 1/500 and auto-iso (ended up at 2000).
