G.W. Bush started an illegal war with Iraq - a fact. WMD was not found - a fact, so Bush/Cheney deserve every bit of the anger and wrath they receive. Before Bush, WMD was defined as nuclear weapons, not chemical, biological, etc. The US provided Saddam Hussein chemical weapons and Rumsfeld was the US representative who met with Saddam with the okay.

That's why we vote back in to office the same Politicians we bitch about, every election.
Why doesn't the ballot say incumbent.

We have term limits, it's called election day. We cry to high heaven about our legislators then re elect them over and over. It's not the politicians fault, it's the folks who vote them in's fault. The problem with calling election day term limits is that most voters now are one issue voters, and that one issue is what freebie am I getting from the government that I want to continue. The takers have now outnumbered the givers and the democratic party has cleverly used this to their advantage by promising to keep giving by income re-distribution!

Sorry......you're wrong.

"weapon of mass destruction (WMD or WoMD) is a nuclear, radiological, chemical, biological or other weapon that can kill and bring significant harm to a large number of humans or cause great damage to human-made structures (e.g. buildings), natural structures (e.g. mountains), or the biosphere."

Simple.

On NPR recently,a senatorial candidate being interviewed stated to the effect that VA care would be dramatically improved if we stopped sending our folks to war. Struck me as being something to ponder.

Yes, true.
And if we stopped selling booze, we'd have far less people requiring care from DUIs.
Oh, wait...

You quote the "modern" terminology. Research WMD before the Bush era.

Nope. The U.N. tasked a committee to develop the all-inclusive definition (i.e. Chemicals, biological, radioactive, atomic explosive) way before Bush. I think it was 1948.

You can see Occasional Paper 8 by Carus for some history on this.

Be wary with possible results of 'term limits,' what may happen will be professional staff and lobbyists 'guiding' the inexperienced and revolving door representatives through the intricacies of Washington BeltWay politics. How can we monitor back door policies, and who do we blame then?

I think most would be surprised at the number of congresscritters who sign off on legislation without reading it, not even having a basic understanding of it, much less of any consequences, intentional or otherwise. They sign off or don't at the guidance of their staff, who may or may not have ulterior motives, such as their continuing paychecks.
And, IMO, "beltway" politics is one of the biggest problems with our government.

Who can forget "we must pass it to find out what's in it"!

I personally believe that the Congress should be held to the same rules as public company business executives.....they sign financial documents personally verifying their validity. Thus, Congress should only be allowed to vote on ANY bill after signing documents saying they read the fcuking bill!

I will disagree somewhat.
While it's true that elections are supposed to filter out the bad pols, we have very recently seen that elections can easily be illegally manipulated to help one particular hopeful.
And, I am constantly surprised at how many simply uninformed voters there are. These people are targeted by campaign posters with just a name on them, going for simple name recognition, with no regard whatsoever for actual policies.
Then there are those who will vote their party, no matter what.

For these reasons, a lot of very bad politicians get re-elected a lot.
