First is an example of leaning back to survive , second is an exercise in droplet capture, with sun from the right. Get the same opportunity every year. I used 1/1000 but maybe 1/2000 would be better. Third is just an example of the perfect background in my opinion, the blue sky. Strong sunshine is there either to help enormously or destroy if you don't take it into account! Hope you like.

Many thanks to both. Their athleticism is one of the attractions in photoing them, trying to show them off at full stretch of their abilities. All the riders do is try to measure up and lead, and add to the pic!.

Many thanks Cambriaman, and to everyone who was kind enough to post encouraging remarks. Expression-wise, it is often eyes shut or very wide, plus mouth very wide open ........but it gets the job done. For a variation, see the attached sequence over the same fence for sheer concentration at Blair Castle Horse Trials late August!
