I got to where I shoot strictly shutter speed. Faster to change from stop action to motion blurr. On action shots

Nice series! When possible, try to keep the background in mind. Best to keep it neutral, especially when you want to enlarge to frame or make a poster. Keep shooting.

Tom: Really good shots. The better ones are the last two. It looks to me like a nice day. I shoot at iso 400 and maybe jump it up as the light fades to keep my shutter speed to stop action. Fill the frame with the subject. Try not to enlarge to much in pp the pixels will blow out.
I shoot with a 7100 too. Good camera. A mode is good but remember anything bigger than 6.3 or 5.6 focus is critical. Focus I use is continuous.
Good luck.

Yes ....I was shooting most of my shot at 4.5 aperture so I could get a faster shutter speed...Only my second time shooting a fast sport so I was kinda just hoping for anything close to good.....

Jules your statement is almost exactly what I was trying for......I believe I did get a couple of good ones which makes me happy.....I think the key for me is to be able to practice , practice and more practice .....This college team has a few more home games left , hopefully I can get to a couple more....
sidenote :::This team as of this game is ranked 9th in the nation....

Tom for your first couple of games you did great. It has taken me years to get it kind of right. Each game is a challenge for me even today. You have the lighting, the speed of the game, etc. Here are some of mine.

Tom; the second to last (709086-1td_2426.jpg) has rather compelling compositional elements and colour harmonies thus could have been a worthy addition to your book albeit the telephone pole cross tie growing out of the striker's head is a major distraction...

There are many very important reasons why commercial sports photographers become extremely adapt at post processing prowess... enough said...

Thank you for sharing your athletic artistry, it speaks well to your admiration for the sport... I wish you well in your endeavors...
