Help with Sony 70-200mm

Unfortunately I dropped my A7RII with 70-200 F4 attached (on the first day I had the lens).Good news is that everything has worked perfectly since .However the lens mounts to the body with a little bit of play, which is sort of annoying.I am wondering if I replaced the metal mount ring on the lens (attached by four tiny phillips screws) by switching the plate from a lesser lens, if this would solve the issue? Since the lens was new to me, I don't know if play was present before the drop. In addition when I gently shake the lens there is a subtle rattle present, I believe part of the autofocus or stabilization mechanism? Again I don't know if that was present before drop or not, I literally had the lens for an hour before it fell out of my golf cart! It produces beautiful images, focus is fast and accurate, and stabilization appears to work fine too...

Oh WOW.
Is it rotational play (in which case no worries) or is it lateral?

That's some very expensive gear you dropped. One must be more careful.

Rotational. Any thoughts on the rattle inside?

Don't worry, I have learned my lesson, just thankful no real damage just a couple of scuffs on body and lens rim. Amazing that there was not more damage, the camera actually fell from the seat of the cart to the cement cart path! Speaks well to the build quality of the Sony equipment. I was very lucky to get off this easily!!

A small amount of rotational movement is normal and nothing to worry about.

Sorry but I don't have any E-Mount zooms so I don't really know about the rattle.

I have the 70-200 lens and A7R II. There is a little rotational slack on all lens; not a problem. However, if it wobbles you've done some damage.

As for the rattle. If I pick up the lens and shake it, there is a rattle. I suspect it is the focus assembly or some other moveable part within the lens. If the lens works I wouldn't be too worried.

Thanks..much relieved. The rattle has the feeling of a component or part shifting, certainly not a loose screw, etc. No wobble, but it is the only lens I have that has a bit of rotational play, and this lens has it on both my A7rII and A6000. It is just sort of annoying, the lens does work perfectly.

I have the Sony 28-70 and 24-240 zooms as well as a number adapters, all of which have some rotational play. I think it all depends how tightly the lens / adapter fits?

I don't use the 70-200 all that much. I find the 24-240 range better suits my shooting habits...
