Looking for Hedgehogs that may have or had experience with Peak Design slidelite SLl-1 camera strap. How well are they designed? Would they perform well with my Nikon D3300 DSLR, with the Nikon DX 55-200 VR II lens? I have read positive and negative reviews, now looking for your opinion. Thank you.

Silverman - I tried a Peak Design Slide strap, but concluded that I like the functionality of Op/Tech staps a little better. It's a matter of personal choice. You might find that your D3300 DSLR and 55-200mm lens work better on a Slide strap v. the Slide Light. I have an Op/Tech Mirrorless strap that I find is a near perfect weight for advanced compact cameras and full frame rangefinder models.

I have the Peak Design Slide and I love it. I think it's very comfy and slide so easy.

I use op-tech like the other reply said very well. It really is a choice, it would be best to try out some to see what you like but unless you are in a large city there may not be some place that you could do this, there is a lot of online stores that are also great retail stores such as Adorama, B&H, manufacturers sites with a lot of good information my suggestion is get the nicest on that fits your needs and it will last you a long time. Hope you get what you need.

I have the slide and like its length and slide mechanism. However, when in Italy it was so hot the grippy part melted and I now have black marks on my T shirt!

I have purchased both op-tech and peak design, whilst most of my kit is fitted with the op-tech range, which I like very much, I purchased the Peak Design on a whim - It is comfy and I do like it, the slide is good BUT it does have its own unique coupling system (the bit on the side of the camera) which I have found to be great but would need to change all of my kit to the same as it is not compatible with the op-tech connections, shame, as now I am swayed to going back to the op-tech only because I have so much of it and I do prefer the connections much better. The Peak Design hand hold I do not like at all, it is too small and difficult to use. A matter of choice at the end of the day - good luck.

I invested in the whole system by purchasing a bundle. I very much like the slide and used it throughout the summer. Thankfully, I did not have the challenge of the black rubber melting. At first the padded part of the strap was very stiff but it has softened up nicely. I especially like how easy it is to adjust and make my camera quickly available to me.

You did not ask but since I do have the bundle I am offering info. I routinely use the clips for the lenses to attach to the slide as well as the holder to carry two lenses simultaneously. Most of the time I use the messenger bag for storage as I can carry what I need with slide and clip.

I agree with others, this can be a trial and error decision to find what works for you. I took a risk on the slide and it works for me.

I first started out with a Black Rapid Sport strap. Now I have Peak Design Slide. I love the slide so much more. I have Peak Design lens capture, Capture Pro clip, leash. These are all great products. I'm leaving for Colorado and New Mexico and plan on using all of these products.

I have two of them on two different bodies and like them because I can position my camera to hang the way I want it to hang on the strap. I also own Their clip an us it when I am carrying both cameras, one on the clip and one on the strap.

Hello all. I have tried several, and have settled in on the BossStrap. You can find them on line. The difference is that the strap "pigtail" goes into the left camera lug, where you would normally put a typical strap. The wide BossStrap goes cross body (I put it on my left shoulder, and the camera hangs just below my waist on the right). You can steady the camera with your right hand, and there is a SLIDE feature that lets you immediately bring the camera up to take a photo. Also you can wear it under a windbreaker, etc to protect the camera. Nice thing is that you can leave your mounting plate in the tripod socket on the camera, so that you lose no functionality at all. I tried one for six months, and then bought a second one for my backup. By the way, when you call BossStrap, you talk to the owner/inventor.

I used a BlackRapid on my D7100, but when I got my a6300 went for the Op/Tech slide strap. The BR was great, but far too heavy-duty for the lighter camera. The OT works well.

I have a peak design standard for my A77 and lite for my RX100M3. Love them both. I particularly like the way the camera hangs when connected to the side and bottom of the camera. I've never had any other straps other than the included neck straps, so no basis for comparison with others.
