Got a new tripod and wanted to see if I could get a decent photo of the new moon. Taken on my backyard deck with my trusty D7000 with Tamron 18-270 set to 270 mm. f8, 1/2 sec ISO 640 EV-1.3.
Tripod is the D&S ProVista 7518. Solid as a rock and equally heavy but worth it. Also used a wirelesstrigger to minimize vibration
Thanks. With the haze and light pollution in northern NJ, I was concerned I would not get much detail. Guess I was wrong

At first I thought you were saying the tripod took the picture.
But reading further it looks like the camera was attached to the tripod.

Very nice moon shot NJphotodoc.
Thanks for the complements (always appreciated). In fact, the tripod really did help since my old tripod (20 yo Velbon with a fluid head), kept slipping and could not get it to lock.
I did have an problem with the 1/4-20 screw on the D&S plate (it was too long and would not lock down the camera) but fixed it by putting 2 bottom halves of a Velcro strip on each side of the mounting plate. It took up just enough space to lock down the camera to the plate and since it is soft plastic, no risk to damaging the bottom of my camera. Seems from the reviews this long screw is a known issue but the fix took 30 seconds and it works fine
