Hi all! I've been taking pictures since I bought a Minolta SRT-101 in the army in 1972. Finally got a DSLR last year. Nikon D3300 w/55-200 and 18-55 kit lenses. Decent enough for my budget and considering I'll probably never sell a photo!

Welcome to the forum. The Minolta SRT-101 was owned by my father. It was a great 35mm film camera. Your Nikon D3300 will serve you well. It has 24 megapixels too. Enjoy.

Welcome! I, too, started with a Minolta SRT-101 (in 1971) and have meandered my way through a couple of digital paths. I currently split my attention between Canon and Olympus systems.

I started with the same kit and still use both the camera and the lenses. You will greatly enjoy that setup. Like the rest of us you will probably want to upgrade later for more bells and whistles, but your current camera takes wonderful pics. Upgrade your glass first IMHO.

Welcome to the UHH and retirement.
I started with a Miranda Sensorex from the air base post exchange outside Tokyo in 1967, I was on R&R from Nam, it seemed like half the people there buying cameras were other Army guys on R&R. A few months later the big PXs in Nam started carrying cameras and gear the one in Qui Nhon was one of the largest and pretty much had everything.
