I enjoy my 105 and it macro ability , depends on what you want to shoot, I suggest test trying both before you buy.

The Nikon 85mm 1.4E is an excellent lens. I read about the new 105mm 1.4E. As far as I know it is on pre-order from B&H. $2200. And it is not advertised as a macro lens, 1:1 magnification, but rather a true portrait lens. I am curious to see how good this lens really is, since it is the only 105mm 1.4 available today.

There are already some reviews on youtube. It seems like it is very sharp, sharper then the 85 mm lens, but autofocus is rather slow and it is big and heavy. More of a studio lens than walk around lens. Then is the price that is about twice the price of the 85 mm lens. So this lens seems not to be an obvious choice unless you really need it for specific work, like in studio.

The 85mm 1.4 is still $1596.95.

"the standard"? I bet it rotates counterclockwise to attach and will fit Nikon DSLRs.

What standard are you referring to, there are 100's of standards a lens is put up against, please be more specific, considering you can currently only order this lens don't you think your question is a little premature.

I used the word "standard" loosely. No specific "standard"--just asking of those who have used the 105 1.4 believe it compares in quality to the 85mm 1.4. While the question might be a little premature, the 105mm 1.4 is being received and used by enough that I anticipated responses.
No controversy intended.

If portraits is your concern the chances are excellent that both lenses will do a great job to "standards."
If I was looking for a portrait lens I would invest in the 85mm f1.8 D.

85mm or 105mm for portraits?
See section V at http://nikkor.com/story/0059/ for an original PoV.
