Was wondering if any other UHH members were coming to the Great Smoky Mountains Photo Summit, at the end of October. Got to meet DWU(Dan) last year, and was hoping to meet others, this year.
DWU2
Loc: Phoenix Arizona area
Travis, since we've moved to AZ, I regret I won't be able to attend. I enjoyed meeting you there last year.
I remember earlier this year, you mentioned you wouldn't be coming. I was hoping you would show me where your "swimming hole" was!
Thanks for posting. I'd not heard of this before and would be very interested in any comments you might have about the experience. Registration is still open according to what I've gathered online.

I attended last year-the first year-and enjoyed it very much. Having just started into wildlife/BIF, and some landscape, photography, it was quite a learning experience. The venue is pretty incredible as the location of the event is only a few miles from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park-were all of the field sessions are held. From what I've seen with this year's schedule, and talking with some of the organizers and instructors, this year's event will be much more in depth than last year. More instructors(from 14, last year, to 20, this year) this year means more subject matter is being offered. I booked lodging for 10 days this year, vs. 6 last year. It's a great time of year to be in the Smoky's.
Thank you. I'm seriously considering attending. The Smokies are one of my favorite places on the planet and I've twice been there during peak fall color, but the program would be a huge bonus.
There was a contingent of Yupers at the Summit last year-they were a hoot to hang out with. The social aspect of the Summit is as much a part of it as the learning opportunities.
I was signed up and then cancelled :-( . I will be up north and driving down to NC earlier in October and have to go to TX in November.... so I just thought it would be too much for me this year. Maybe next year. I do plan on seeing the park on the way down a couple weeks earlier. I was also concerned that the color may be gone by at the very end of the month?
They were already full and had a waiting list when I cancelled last week.

Ha! Guess we'd fit right in. Yoopers forever!
