I'll add another vote for the D500 with 300mm f/4E PF & TC-14E III.

good luck in picking doable gear. i'm and my hiking days are over. I do my shooting from a scooter so at times I can take out my heavier equipment.

That is what I must do. Our favorite wildlife park (Northwest Trek) has scooter rental. The park also has a wonderful tram. I take a monopod. Useful for the tram and while cruising around on the rental scooter. D7200, 200-500.

I should mention, I have some post polio syndrome, which causes my right leg to tire. No amount of exercise will cure that. that is just something I have to live with.

But you're out there doing something that you enjoy to the best of your ability. That's what counts. You're not sitting around feeling sorry for yourself. Good for you :)

I have a terrible bad back and have been waiting for just the right mirrorless or light weight GOOD camera to come out. I have seen nothing that compares to a Nikon D810 with a 70-200 or 80-400 on it and so will suffer for a couple more years it seems.

Hehehe... yes Boston is the worst of the drivers and it matters none that my family were original settlers. I just drive faster and pray. Drivers in Los Angeles will test your nerves also, and even some of these in North Carolina are reckless. The kindest drivers are in Texas; unless they are from elsewhere.

Well you sort of expect all drivers in Texas to carry guns, it pays be polite!

Robert A. Heinlein taught us that "an armed society is a polite society."

Thanks, Bill. I'm still learning the UHH code language. For example (and, in this post*), ILC "X" is not really being compared to ILC "Y". One must guess which lenses are going to be attached, even though those lenses weren't mentioned in the post. Am I starting to get it?

*"I love my Olympus OMD, even smaller than the Sony A6000. I believe they have a long lens for it but you can google that, and I'm 74."

Oly has the 40-150 pro zoom, and a nice 300mm. Panasonic/Leica has a 100-400mm. All three are excellent, and about a fourth the size and weight of full frame equivalents.

Well yes, this is true. I have a CC license for TX. Don't carry, but could when there. :-) Truly folks are nice; in San Antonio I always see people hold up 3 lanes of traffic to let cars get across or let someone turn in to traffic not moving, etc. and everyone is just patient, no honking unless a friendly toot to let someone go ahead. Oh and when you do let someone go, they WAVE at you to say thanks, which is so seldom seen on the east coast.

The more exercise option is not available to me. I do walk 4-5 miles a day. I do work out with some light weights. But I must be sure not to create fatigue in my right leg. The problem with post polio syndrome are my nerves on the right side, particularly my right leg are slowly burning out. Increases in activity can increase the rate of the burn out. When I had polio, I couldn't walk for nearly a year. After rehab, I made what was considered a full recovery, but at about 40 years of age, I began to experience right leg fatigue far earlier than I should have. At that time I was doing some 1/2 marathons and the training required to do them. I went to various doctors and was told that I should cease immediately. I did, but the damage has continued as it does in almost all polio victims. Some more some less. I am thankful for what I have been able to do, but I need to keep the future in mind.
