There is a 100,000 acre forest fire burning in rugged mountains about 100 miles SW of Albuquerque. (Zero containment after several days,) The wind is blowing the smoke into Albuquerque and on up to Colorado. As devastating as the fire is, it has resulted in a spectacular view of the sun the last couple of days. The first photo was taken about 90 minutes before sunset today and the second is just before the sun dropped below the horizon. There are no clouds in the sky; this is just the thick smoke blocking the sun and creating the red/pink color. Albuquerque was the perfect place for photographing the Annular Solar Eclipse. I can only imagine how beautiful the eclipse would have been if the smoke had been in the sky during the eclipse. The third photo is of the solar eclipse taken from the same spot the other two pictures were taken.

Very nice photos. Smoke in the sky can help make for some neat photos.
Where exactly is the fire at? I am originally from South Central NM. The smoke from this fire is being credited for the hazy conditions where I now live in Arkansas, over 850 miles away.

Fire is in the Gila National Forest near the towns of Rerserve and Glenwood which are North of Silver City.
