Those dealers are honest and their prices are as low as they get.

You might also consider buying a refurbished camera (again, from those sellers above ) or from CANON.

Body only for me; cannot stand kit lenses. You can pick one up for just over $700. A great place to begin searching is key.com. I am passing that tip on from another UHH-er.

its probably a scam or bait and switch, there have been a number of threads on this if it sounds too good to be true it is. Be careful your not the first to fall for it thats why people here have been saying buy from a reputable place.

I bought a refurb 7D from Canon and it was just over $1100 but you have to trade in an old Canon. so go to goodwill buy a old canon P&S and make the swap, I'll look for the link to it and goet back to you.

"Awful experience. bait and switch. ordered canon 60d, and they called to tell me that it was a grey market item, and didn't include a battery or charger, and that it would take 4 to 6 weeks for the camera to be sent from malasia. Then they tried to upsell me for an extra $600. I asked to speak to a manager, and they first told me they didn't have a manager, then they connected me with someone named Timmy Matoon. He refused to fulfill the order (which I had a confirmation for). Complete ripoff scammers! DON'T BUY FROM THEM!!!"

I saw a Canon 7D go for $975 on ebay this morning & I hear it has the best video you could ever ask for. You are lucky to get that $1700. camera dor that price.

Going through the CLP and getting a refurb at a reduced price is a great idea.
You can buy broken or otherwise non-functioning cameras to use as a trade in for cheap on ebay.

CLP is the Canon Loyalty Program. That's what you have to go through to trade in a busted P&S to get credit toward a DSLR body.
I've not found a direct link for the CLP online.
But you can call Canon customer service (that's what I did) and ask them about it. The whole transaction gets handled over the phone anyway.
I sent in a non-properly functioning Canon P&S and got a great price on a refurb 50D body that has performed flawlessly for the past year and half.
