Unfortunately, the only diffuser I had was my handkerchief. Nikkor 105 macro, 1/60-sec at f/4.5. Stack of 15 images processed with Helicon Focus.
Shield bugs (Scutelleridae) and stink bugs (Pentatomidae) are closely related but different families. Pentatomids like yours have the scutellum, the midline, more-or-less triangular part behind the pronotum and between the wing bases about half as long as the abdomen and exposing the leathery bases of the wings. Scutellerids have the scutellum greatly enlarged, so much so that it covers the wings entirely and extends to the tip of the abdomen. Your first photo shows the wings of your specimen very nicely! The second, the 4-joint beak (with the internal stylets showing sligntly at the end) equally nicely!
