Nice! Classic beauty, love the lighting and black background.

SS the human body is made wth the thigh attached to the knees, so it is close.
And definitely there are many of us who love looking her thighs.
Many thanks to all for helpful comments. This was my very first workshop art nude shoot (Feb. 2013) and sadly only a JPEG as I didn't understand RAW yet. To answer a few questions the lighting was two baffled strip soft boxes behind and each side of the model..kickers for edge lighting. There was also one monster soft box way behind the shooting position for general lighting. This did give a very short result (at the time I didn't know what short or broad lighting was) but the mentor was working for high drama using shadows. I did shoot this as I shoot almost 100% of my art nudes, full figure, but cropped it as I did going for a sort of rule of thirds look and cropping out a piece of the gel that was jutting onto the image. I didn't crop any higher because I loved the way the light carved out her thigh. Again many thanks to all and especially SharpShooter for taking the time to comment in depth. I am very glad someone opened this page on UHH, I kinda like this party and think I will stick around.....

You say that you are sad that is is "only" a JPEG. Yet it appears to be exposed well and has good color and range. What is it that you wanted to do that you cannot do because it is a JPEG? If it was a RAW format file instead of a JPEG, what would you do differently?
Mari is beautiful. Great shot.

If EXIF data doesn't come thru the specs are as follows.
Nikon D7000/50mm 1.4/f11/SS 200/ISO 200
Mentors studio was mostly PCB stuff and as I remember he was gelling
with "bastard orange." At the time I think I was editing with PSE 11.
I have moved on since then, now shooting a D800 with several more
FX lenses and my own small PCB powered home studio. Now use PS CC.
Art nude is my preferred style and only print output but this forum
seems to have more positive than negative input so have decided to
try limited Webb output to specific sites..

Waddy,
Very nice shot with very good lighting. Looks like you may have focused on her breast/nipple specifically, looking at the download? I would have focused on her camera right eye to get it in focus and maybe used a little deeper or longer DOF. That may just be me, but I was always taught to focus on the eye(s) and adjust the DOF to get whatever else you want to be in the focal plane whenever doing a portrait shot, full length, or a headshot; unless you were specifically trying to create something totally different!
I light the hair light and her pose. Just curious what it may look like with just a
tad more light shining vertically from her camera left facial cheek down her body onto her camera right buttox and the rear of her camera right thigh? I would have definitely played with that lighting a little to see how it may have improved it or possibly worsened it. The mentor did a nice job and thanks for joining, uploading, and contributing. Welcome to the Forum. Hope to see more of your work.

What a beautiful nude shot... The model is fabulous, and the lighting leaves you wanting to see more.... Cant wait to see more of your work.
your description of the lighting was very educational for me... More please
Excellent! Keep up the good work!
Very nicely done! The lighting is great, as is the composition. The model is outstanding, too!
Excellent image pose with good work on studio lights. One of the best I seen in here.

Really well-done. Good lighting. Like the contrast AND that there was enough fill for the face. The color is perfect.
If I want to be nit-picky--there is a hint of a panty line at her waist. I ask my models to not wear anything with elastic, especially bras and panties as it takes a lot of work to eliminate the lines. This was a mistake I made a couple times in my early work.
Yep Tom me also about focusing on the eye. I may have botched this one or it could be just my shaky old man hands. Also, at f11 I was fearful of wandering into diffraction land to get greater DOF. I usually shoot around f8. Your insightful comment on this issue raises a question I seem never to have adequately gotten answered. Is it better to use center focus in viewfinder to focus and then recompose thereby causing more focal plan tilt or use the focal point closest to the models eye and recompose causing less focal plan tilt...What are your ideas on this or anyone else reading this..
As you probably know, workshops offer a great way to economically shoot top shelf models....but the downside is you don't get to be the boss. The mentor/teacher sets up the lighting and set and you just spray and pray...;~) If I were running the show today there is no doubt I would change things some..
Again thanks all for very helpful comments. They are appreciated. I plan on being back.
