My first post and my first question

I've been following for awhile but now I really want some feedback. I have this image taken by someone on vaca with us that I would very much like to print. However, it is a JPEG and it was taken at an ISO of 2500. It has a lot of noise but, despite trying to learn about NIK Define2, I am at a loss at how to fix the problems with the image. The most obvious blemishes are discolorations in the skin tones on some of the people. Any suggestions that I might try without buying new software would be appreciated. I use Lightroom and obviously have the NIK suite.

Am happy to be here. Enjoying all the banter.

Take it into photoshop and use Curves. set the white eye dropper on the white strips of the girls shirt, set the black eye dropper on her black shorts, set the gray eye dropper on the gray sweatshirt. that should take care of the white balance.

DeFine 2 usually takes care of the noise issues I have even on its default setting.

At least it wasn't a question about Nikon vs Canon ...

Given the image is a 1x1 square, do you have access to the original straight from the camera file? It seems already to have been processed via cropping if not other changes. Your Lightroom software alone should be able to handle this task.

The introduction section is not the best place to pose such a question. Rather, post the unmodified version into the Post Processing section at http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/s-116-1.html Explain your problem again in the new post and ask people to take a try at improving. You'll get a spectrum of good and not so good results ... But, working from the original is the best bet. When coming back to the 1x1 crop, I'd come in a bit tighter and clone out whatever is left of the dog's tail in the lower right.

Welcome aboard!

Thanks. The image was cropped and slightly edited in Lightroom, which is recommended before working in NIK. My biggest confusion was how to present my question on this website. Your suggestions are appreciated. BTW the image is not a 1X1 but a 4X5 (8X10), cropped with the intent of printing. The dog's tail is a problem, the original had more of the dog but not enough worth including.
