Backpack for camera plus telephoto lens.

Just got back from shooting my D750 with 200-500 f/5.6. I have a Tenba sling bag that I gutted for carrying this. I really hate sling bags.

So I'm looking for suggestions for a backpack that will work for moderately big lenses. I'd like to be able to carry my 300 f/2.8 with TC-20 and D750, so it needs to handle about 17 inches. I'm willing to flip the hood for carrying, or let it stick out the top. Should not be any wider than the Tenba, so around 10".

I have a LowePro Flipside 500 that holds my Tamron 150-600 & several other lenses nicely. B&H sells it for $144.49 with free expedited shipping.

Check eBay, if you don't mind waiting for it they sell these for about $75 out of China.

I bought a Lowepro Mini Trekker from China; it was a counterfeit. I have two others, so it was easy to tell. So, I would be leary of buying name brand items from China. I do buy a lot of hardware from China, but name brand stuff can be counterfeit and lower quality.

I had said to check out Think Tank. I have 2 think tank bags. One is a roller and the ther a back pack. In both I can carry two bodies, my 150-600 and 2 smaller lenses. other accessories and my lap top.. Bags are well designed for pro's and well worth the cost.

I use a Lowepro Pro runner 350 AW which accommodates my D7200 with 200-500 f5.6 attached along with my 70-300 f4.5-5.6, 18-200 f3.5-5.6, 10-24 f3.5-5.6 and 35 f1.8. One battery charger, two spare batteries lens cleaning wipes, and 12 SD cards in a hard sided pelican case. My iPad Air 2 rides in the tablet compartment outside of the main compartment. I should point out that my D7200 has a Nikon battery grip attached and the 200-500 5.6 has the lens hood reversed while stored inside the bag. The other four lenses also have their respective hoods attached in the reverse position. Truthfully, it is a snug fit, but that is the way I like it so there is nothing rattling around inside. Total weight of the kit as described weighs approximately 25lbs and with the waist belt, shoulder straps and chest strp properly adjusted, I find no issue trekking up to 10 miles each day. There is a built-in travel tripod pouch and securing straps on the outside of the backpack, centered up the middle of the case, thereby distributing the weight of the tripod (or monopod) evenly between the shoulder straps. There are two small Lowepro badges on the case, both of which are sewn on. I have carefully removed the stitching and the badges, resulting in the case looking very generic, which is also to my liking.
Cost $120.00 (that's Canadian dollars approximately $90.00 US) at my local Canadian photo shop.
Check it out at www.lowepro.com/prorunner

Thanks for your responses. It looks like the Flipside 300 may work; I'll try to track one down to test.

You might check out the Lowepro 302 and also the 202. The 302 is the bigger of the two, and should hold anything. You swing the pack 90 degrees for camera access.

I have the Flipside 400. Very good quality. Actual interior depth is 16". Overall width is under 12". The nice thing about the Flipside is that main compartment cannot be opened when you are wearing it, although, using the waist strap, you can access it without taking it off. That eliminates the need to set it on wet or muddy ground. It also eliminates setting it on the ground, getting distracted while shooting, and having someone grab it, if you are someplace where that is a concern.
