Air Museum near St. Louis, Mo.
I was in St. Louis, Mo., for an Argus Camera convention earlier in July, & on an off day, I looked up an air museum that was on the Hertz car rental map. It's called the Historic Aircraft Restoration Museum on the Creve Coeur Airport about 20 minutes NW of St. Louis. It has about 60 aircraft in 4 hangars, mostly WACOs, Travel Airs, & plenty of others, all jammed together. I had the place to myself, & the guide said that nobody knows that it exists, so not too many people come by. I was having the time of my life for about 2 hours. If you ever in St. Louis, I'd suggest looking the place up. Bring a camera.

Curtiss Jenny
De Haviland Dragon (?)
One of the many WACOs
Very Nice... but two hours???.... That would be a good half day for me. But nice birds and pics.
When I lived in Cincinnati in 1987-1992, I visited the EAA museum in OshKosh WI about four time, and would have kept going back if I hadn't moved back to Oregon. Here, I spend the full day at the Evergreen Air Museum in McMinville OR... Home of Howard Hughes' "Spruce Goose".
Love the Airplanes.. Thanks for the images. All four are sweet.

Nice shots of some nice planes.

Spending most of my life as an FAA A&P mechanic, I like visiting air museums also. Was recently passing through Mobile and stopped by to visit USS Alabama. They have a hangar, albeit rather small, with some nice specimens to include a Blackbird and a pristine P-51D dressed as a red tail. Also, in Galveston by the Moody Gardens they have a nice collection of mostly flyable WWII birds. Mater of fact, they have a B-17 that you can hitch a ride on for a few bucks. Both places are worthy for a few pics. Thanks for your great shots!

Great images!!!!
Will have to get up there, I have lived in the St.Louis area all my life and never heard anything about the place.
There is a Dragon Rapide still flying at Duxford,UK.The RAF called them Dominies.
I lived in St. Louis for nearly 20 years and never heard of this museum. In fact, I didn't even know that Creve Coeur had an airport. Great set of photos. Might have to check it out the next time that I am in the area.

A few miles NW of Creve Coeur, by the Missouri River, there is a large recreation area called Creve Coeur Lake and Park and the airport and museum are there too.
Here are several more. Happy you like them. Thanks.

I used to fly out of that airport years ago, when it was east of the current location. I have been to this one and did not know this display was there. Thanks for the info and the pics. At the airport's former location, near a water treatment plant....When the winds required you to take off toward the water treatment plant, on a hot day with limited lift, you would have to take off and fly around some of the water tanks because you could not ascend quickly enough to get over them in some aircraft.
