I've had an Epson 2400 and am very pleased. Couldn't be better.

Have you had any problems with clogging when you do not use it for a long period of time, also have you tried 3rd party professional inks not the cheap crap...........Thanks

I dont own that particular model, but my first questions would be what program are you printing from what are your printers preference, image format etc. Here is a link with lots of info on your 810, towards the bottom there is a whole section on printing, I hope this helps............Joseph

the problem with epson is that their ink cartriges cost an arm, two legs and your immortal soul! i have 2 a workforce 40 and a photostylus 925. i was recently given a canon pixma mp450 3in 1 that i like very much. much faster then the epsons, and better color. Being a raving nikonian i hate to say this but i would recomend gulp canon gulp. Just keep it quiet or they will take my nikons away. they already got my kodachrome!!!

And the other problem is that you're not qualified to judge Epson Photoprinters. The workforce 40 was a dirt cheap office printer and the 925 is obsolete dating from 2002. Even so the 925 was capable of excellent detail and accurate colour reproduction with epson ink and papers.

The problem with most people is that they use cheap 3rd party inks and paper and then complain about the results. Other problems lie in not having a decent colour balanced setup or not knowing how to apply colour profiles in setting up the print.

I wouldn't knock Canon photoprinters, they do a good job but like I said my preference is for Epson and the R3000 printer is the best I've had of many printers over the years (I used to operate a fine art print business).

I've folliwed this topic whenever someone has ask about photo printers. It surprises me that Wilhelm Imaging Research has never come up during these discussions. I think anyone that does their own printing should check out this site.

I doubt many people heard of WIR and I suspect not many people care about longevity (doesn't go for me BTW).

I'm going to venture out with a suggestion. If you just need 4X6 prints the Canon Selphy is the way to go. Why? Because it is a film based printer. That means you can leave the printer shut off for a year and still make beautiful prints with it. Ink Jet printer's nozzles dry up and you have to clean them. Each time you clean them you waste ink. I spent years batting my head against the wall with Ink Jet printers. I wasted more time an ink cleaning the heads than I ever want to remember.
