A Question on Etiquette

Is it acceptable to knock on at my neighbour's house three doors down, who I've never really spoken to before apart from a cursory greeting, to ask if I can come into her house to catch the Pokemon that's hiding out in her hallway?

I don't even know what a pokemon is.
I know all my neighbors for 5 miles around my place. A new family moved in a couple of years ago and I went over and gave them some fresh farm eggs and introduced myself. Our neighborhood now has another good neighbor.
