You are right but you must realize that this is exactly why the good guy with a gun narrative is such bullshit. I have said many times before, when first responders arrive on an active shooter scene, they will not be able to tell the bad guy from the good guy. Unless all you "good guy heroes" are willing to wear special hats or something...

Hero fantasies are not the same thing as real life.

I think the situation will dictate the actions. There are many incidents where a civilian with a gun has stopped or curtailed possible grievous harm. I am not aware of any incident that supports your opinion. But I haven't researched it like I am sure you did.

The good guy with a gun narrative is not all BS as you would like to think.....I can site you four instances just off the top of my head.

1. Old man gets robbed while walking his dog in St Louis....Next night he arms himself...Same guy tries to rob him again and the old man, fearing for his life shoots the robber.

2, Man living near me has a man on facebook threatening him....that very same night the man comes to his house and attempts to break in to do harm to the man....Man defends himself and family when he shoots the bad guy.

3. Old man cuts off another motorist...a biker...at the next light the biker runs up to the car and begins beating on the old man with his wife and grandchild in the car. The old man, fearing for their safety pulls out his gun and shoots the biker.

4. Me, shopping at a Best Buy store in South St Louis County...In the store for 10 minutes...come out and find a man inside my car, stealing my stereo, GPS, IPod. I confront the man and he jumps out of the car with a large pointed end screw driver, ground off like an Ice Pick, at the ready to stab me. I pull out my weapon and the man elects to flee instead of stabbing me.

These are just St Louis area incidents and ones I remember clearly.....I'm sure there are more both here and other locations. It is not a hero fantasy to protect the life of yourself or loved ones....Its a sad commentary on today's society.

Hey there. Aren't you disrespecting the deceased police and their grieving families in Dallas by making political points over the tragedy??? In fact, you've been making political points over the tragedy in every single one of your posts so far, including the posts in which you accuse us of showing disrespect for doing what you are doing. And not only are you hypocritically making political points, you are making some of the most extremist, racist, far out there vile opinions, such as calling Black Lives Matter a "domestic terrorist group" and things that expose your sick, bigoted, twisted mindset. I tremble to think that there are cops with your mindset actually in the community. People with your racist, bigoted, sick mindset have no business being cops.

I'm so confused now. Why would you want to be showing such disrespect right after coming on so strong here accusing us of doing the same?

Is it because you are a hypocrite, or because you hold yourself to a different standard?

Go back and read his posts on this thread. I am offended by his hypocrisy and double standard. Not to mention his racist extremist vile opinions.

You are confused. I'm not trying to win an argument with ad hominems. Not even close. I am accurate describing hypocrisy and double standards, and additionally expressing my disgust with a sick, demented mentality. You seem to continuously have difficulty with logic and comprehension, so no surprise there.

imntrt1: "Lets think of the tragedy here.....Five Police Officers died and many more were shot.....This is no place to post crap like that....In fact, out of respect for all the fathers-husbands-uncles-sons-daughters, shot and killed it would be a sick thing to make this a platform for your anti-gun or pro-gun agendas. Dallas has another dark day added to this Country's History."

Keenan: And then he proceeds to spew exactly that - make this platform for his pro-gun agendas, including some vile, racist, sick extremist opinions:

imntrt1: "...BLM is nothing short of a domestic terrorist organization that promotes shooting police officers and falsely claims they care about black lives.....where are their protests in the multiple murders of black people by black people. They spout false claims that police are routinely shooting black people almost on a daily basis. If they or anyone else would do a little research they would learn some facts that are true. One such truth is this.....If you take EVERY death of a black man at the hands of police for the past Forty Years...FOUR DECADES....they would learn that more black people lose their lives at the hands of other black people...In ONE year, than those last 40 years combined, at the hands of police. Those facts come from the Justice Department's own record keeping. As for the open carry people not getting involved....as Dennis correctly pointed out....they did the right and safe thing. That scene was chaotic and other innocent lives could have been taken had they attempted to get involved, including their own. Anti gun nuts keep using the same incorrect arguments to promote their cause......they spout facts and figures that are simply not factual or they are often skewed. We do not need one new law that I can see that would fix the problem....It is a crime to kill people...or assault them. I was just watching some video of robberies and assaults in the UK, which has some very strict anti-gun laws....without guns they use clubs and knives....Where there is a will there is a way, as they say."

Keenan: Now, you tell me. Weren't you disrespecting the deceased officers and their grieving families?

Word has it the military finally capitulated and let you in. Our daughter sent this picture from the "Army Times" said it was a guy named Keenan for CA.

Nagy: I do not recall reading anything that said anything about Keenan's sexuality, nor do I understand why that should concern you or prompt your homophobic assaults.

Nagy: This implies there are facts that are not true. Can you please give examples?
