The two versions tell very different stories. I suggest, ask yourself what story do you want the image to tell, what is the main subject or theme, when you answer those questions, you will have the answer to your question about cropping.

Which one do you want? One is a picture of the flower, embellished with a bird. The other is a picture of the bird, embellished with a flower.

I would say no crop but the proper use of Photoshop if that is the software you are using for editing.

#2 for me - - Emphasizes the Hummie as the subject with colorful flower also in focus.
the first shot has the bird, flower, and some thing sticking up from the bottom, plus extraneous dimly lit and out of focus (OK - - Bokeh and all that) in the background

Not. Your image is vertical, cutting part of it off harms the image, IMHO.

I don't understand: "proper use of Photoshop"?

You did not clone that piece of iron sticking in the middle of the frame but instead you cropped a large amount of pixels from the original and still that piece of iron was visible in the final crop. If that is what you want I am going to say that it is your photograph and you make the final decision but there is an alternative and it is cloning completely that piece of iron as I showed you, easily done using Photoshop and leaving all those pixels alone.
Another way is to clone the piece of iron like I did and then crop to your taste although you will loose lots of pixels if you plan to enlarge the file.
Perhaps you understood that I was saying you did not know how to edit but that was not my intention, surely I did not use the right words and I apologize.

I agree with JD750, what do you want to emphasize, the flower or the bird?

I prefer number two. Number one just seems unbalanced and not very attractive. In addition I like the crop that camerapapi proposed.

They're both good, Busch, so it's hard to choose one...but if I had to, I'd choose the first one.

Of these 2, I prefer the cropped version.
