I love Mannassass. Interesting note about the stone house. It was used as a hospital during both battles of Bull run. When a body part was amputated the Dr would just toss it out the window. Soon, there was a pile under each window that actually grew taller than the window sill. After the guided tour we were on, I walked to the outside of the window, and had to reach as high as I could to touch the sill. They are over 8' high. That's a lot of arms and legs.

thank you; we found April (last half) an excellent time to go, before humidity sets in. We lucked out with the weather.

Thank you; we enjoyed the sites and their history immensely. We were impressed by the fine condition of the arched bridges.

The other day when I was on Colonial Parkway I saw those bridges and totally wanted some pics of them! But we were in a hurry to get to the outlets to shop :) maybe next time we can stop and smell the rose's and take a couple pics :)
