Just another example of how Obummer has decimated our military; sadly the air force is in no better shape.

I get a kick out of watching the Indian soldiers highly exaggerated steps.

Good comparison, good post. I wonder how many years it will take to get our military back into fighting shape.

The United States spends more on its military annually then more than the next 15 countries combined. That means if you took all the money those 15 plus countries combined spent on their militaries, the USA, one country, spent more.
India will spend just over 51 billion dollars on its military for 2016; Russia, just over 42 billion; China will spend roughly 146 billion. What figure would you put on a decimated military?! All the countries on this planet with reasonable well equipped modern militaries will spend an estimated 595 billion dollars on those militaries for 2016. The "decimated" US military has a spending balance for 2016 of just under 600 billion dollars. In what way does the country that out spends the world have a "decimated" military?! And one last point to ponder, the Republican controlled legislative branch of our government controls how much money the military spends, not the executive branch.

By the way, I did not vote for the current president...

Apparently you have never served. If you had you would understand how it has been decimated.

well you see, when Reagan was president we could destroy the world 27 times over... in our current weakened state, we can only destroy the world 16 times.

Not enough ships for their commitments. Ships badly in need of overhaul and maintenance. Marine Corps salvaging parts off aircraft to keep others in the air. Not enough money for training. I could go on but it's time to pull your head out of your ass and look around you.

Sure Greenie, if it was up to your ilk, we would only have nukes to use if it came down to fighting.

All should remember that the term "decimated" properly used means reduced by one tenth. Given the usual howls about waste in the military I'd imagine that a 10% reduction in funding wouldn't be a bad thing.

Better yet, how about a 50% reduction in welfare and food stamps with NONE going to immigrants!

I would go for that in a heart beat. I makes me angry to watch the people on food stamps but crap food, develop diabetes and then we have to pay for that to

interesting that the 2 definitions of "decimated" are almost opposites, what other word is it's own opposite...

90% wiped out
or
10% wiped out

here'2 14 more words...
http://mentalfloss.com/article/49834/14-words-are-their-own-opposites

and 11 more
http://mentalfloss.com/article/49952/11-more-words-are-their-own-opposites

but "decimated" is by far the most intriguing.

My dictionary app has for decimate:

—verb (used with object), dec·i·mat·ed, dec·i·mat·ing.

1. to destroy a great number or proportion of: The population was decimated by a plague.
2. to select by lot and kill every tenth person of.
3. Obsolete. to take a tenth of or from.

When asked to decimate the carrots, you don't just nip the ends off.
