Photoshop CC 2015.5 - Stopped Working - One More Time

I know this subject has been discussed previously, but I think I found an easy fix. In review, the problem seems to be that after installing the latest version of Photoshop CC 2015.5, when one tries to open a file you get a "Photoshop has stopped working" warning and the whole thing just shuts down. I found on one of Adobe's Help Pages if you can open Photoshop, choose Edit>Preferences>Performance and deselect Use Graphic Processor option. Everything seems to now be working, so far. Two additional points: first, and this has been repeated often, you will need to reinstall any plugins, such as Nik or On-1 software; and second I recommend not removing earlier versions of Photoshop (see advanced options) on install page.

If you leave the older version of PS on your computer you can just drag and drop your plugins from the old plugins folder to the new one.

No you can't. They may or may not work but that is defiantly not the way to install plugins as it can cause all sorts of problems. The safest way is a new install. However if the plugin works in Photoshop 2015.5 without you moving any files, then it is OK. This should be the last time this issue arises as Adobe have modified Photoshop so future updates will not effect plugins.

This was recommended by Scott Kelby and several other Photoshop "experts" and worked just fine for me.

Funny, the first time I started CC 2015.5, it popped up a message saying that it disabled my Graphic Processor because of some compatibility issue.

I didn't drag the plugins from the older file, I actually selected all, copied and then pasted them into the plugin folder of 2015.5. No problems and they work as expected.

Thanks for the tip I recently noticed after upgrading to CC2015.5 and/or Camera Raw 9.6 that the Zoom / drag function that relies on the graphics processor stopped working, infact it caused a major system crash . which was resolved by a reboot .. Interestingly the same function works fine in CC2015.5

I do not remember getting any notification from Adobe, but it is reassuring to know that the graphics processor issue is a known phenomena and not a hardware issue in my system
